In the fifties the construction of a large dam artificially joined the two lakes of Curon and Resia and the result was the submersion of the two homonymous inhabited centres. The bell tower of the Curon church still protrudes from the water and can be easily seen from this point.

The steeple of the former parish church of St. Catherine is reminiscent of the sunken village of Alt-Graun, which was destroyed due to the damming of the lake.
