Museum of Modern Art in Malmö

The Moderna Museet Malmö is a branch of the renowned Swedish Museum
of Modern Art in Stockholm. The museum is housed in the buildings of a former power station and is just a few minutes' walk from the center of
Malmö's Old Town.

The power station was built in 1901 as a brick building in the industrial architecture typical of the time. After extensive modernization, during which
the building received a striking extension with a facade cladding made of red-painted
steel sheeting, the Moderna Museet moved into the old power station in 2009.

The museum, which specializes in Scandinavian and international art of the 20th and 21st centuries, presents changing exhibitions throughout the year and attracts visitors from all over the world. The former turbine hall, converted into an exhibition space, covers a total area of over 800 square meters. The museum also has a 100-square-meter museum education workshop.

The Museum of Modern Art is the only museum in Scandinavia to boast a significant collection of 20th-century contemporary art. Its collection includes works by Dali, Kandinsky, Matisse, and Picasso, among others.

Since February 1, 2016, visits to this museum and 17 other state museums in Sweden have been free of charge.
