The violent death of a Tyrolean trader in 1741 gave this memorial stone with a cross its name.

In winter 20/21 a tree fell on the previous cross due to a snow break. The Heimatverein set it up there together with the memorial stone in 1981 and at the same time created the small rest area with a table and benches.

This cross was made of wood that had been cut out of a power pole 40 years ago and then found its place on the ridge of the Dollberge at the site of the historic bloodshed.

After such a long time, the cross was not only damaged by the snow break, but also so rotten and weathered that a new one was made from the trunk of a Douglas fir and erected.

The murdered man's money had disappeared, only a few personal items were found in his clothes. The dealer was buried on February 23, 1741 in the Birkenfeld cemetery. His death went unpunished. The servant, who had spent the night with Thomas in Adventure, was strongly suspected of the act.

A few days after the Tyrolean had disappeared in an inn, he had noticed that he was carrying an unusually large amount of money for his circumstances. But there was no evidence of the murder.

The memory of the murder lived on afterwards. The Tirolerstein was first mentioned in writing in 1812.
