The Raxkirchlein was built in 1936 and is located at the foot of the Heukuppe, not far from the Karl-Ludwig-Haus on the Rax. It is now not only a memorial, but also popular as a wedding location for mountaineers.

The small chapel is located about 200 meters south of the Karl Ludwig House. It was built to commemorate mountain climbers injured in the mountains under the direction of the speleologist and president of the Austrian Tourist Club (ÖTK) Domprälat Alois Wildenauer. Although the church is part of the Diocese of Graz-Seckau, it is subordinate to the Viennese parish Prein (Vicariate: Under the Vienna Woods). Every year mountain masses of various parishes are held.
