The pond was first documented in 1563. On the bank was a watermill. It is believed that for their purpose the pond was artificially created. The pond was later used as a breeding pond for carp and today serves as angling waters. The environment is designed like a park.
At the beginning of the 1990s the nearby housing estate Goethepark was built.
