Schloss Herzford is a moated castle near the independent town of Lingen in southern Emsland. It was built in 1337 as the "Thor Slipse" castle on the left bank of the Ems.

Between the years 1717 and 1723 the Baroque manor house was built by the councilor and lessee Anton Helweg and the family von Schorlemer, whose architect was the master builder Gottfried Laurenz Pictorius (1663-1729). The bridge, the outer bailey and the gardens were planned by the architect of the late Baroque Johann Conrad Schlaun.

Schloss Herzford changed hands many times. The Duke of Arenberg acquired it in 1853, which brought his Emsland property in 1928 in the Arenberg-Meppen GmbH. Until 1970, the palace complex continued to disintegrate. Then a Lingen manufacturer bought it and since then repaired it.

Herzford Castle is not far from the independent town of Lingen (Ems). Built in 1337 as the “thor Slipse” castle. Under the noble von Schorlemer family, the baroque mansion was built between 1717 and 1723 by the Munster architect Gottfried Laurenz Pictorius (1663–1729). The bridge and the outer bailey were designed by the Westphalian late baroque builder Johann Conrad Schlaun (1695-1773). After several changes of ownership in the following years, the private castle is in civil hands and can only be viewed from the road.
