The Wentorfer Lohe is a former training area. The area has no longer been used for military purposes since 1997. Today, nature is the focus and various measures are being taken to protect it as part of the “Natural Heritage Lohe” project.

The former training area WENTORFER LOHE is located northeast of the former garrison town of Wentorf and extends between the communities of Wohltorf, Wentorf, Neu-Börnsen and the Sachsenwald. With only about 250 hectares, the Lohe - as the area is called colloquially - was not very large. Nevertheless, the variety of meadows with alternating forest areas offered the grenadier battalions stationed in Wentorf the opportunity to practice military emergencies.

Nowadays it is a beautiful piece of nature that I can highly recommend.
