The Đình Mông Phụ Temple is the architectural and spiritual heart of the ancient village of Đường Lâm, located about 45 kilometers west of Hanoi. It is considered one of the most important examples of traditional Vietnamese village architecture.
Built in 1553 (during the reign of King Le Trung Tong), the building was expanded and renovated in the 18th and 19th centuries. A Đình is much more than just a temple; it is a community center that combines three functions:
Religious: It is the place where the village's guardian spirit (Thành Hoàng) is worshipped.
