Rothmühle Castle is a baroque castle in Rannersdorf, Lower Austria. The building, which has been owned by the town of Schwechat since April 1967, was first mentioned in documents around 1300 and has been used in various ways over the years as a mill, fabric factory, leather factory and as a workers' quarters. The name of the castle changed over time from "Mühle in dem grunde derhalben des Wazzers" to "Mühle am Nidern Grund" and to "Rothe Mühle" and later to "Rothmühle". The origin of the name cannot be clearly proven. Publications indicate that the castle was originally built from red bricks and that this is where the name "Rothmühle" comes from.

As the names and uses changed over time, so did the owners of the castle. The most famous owner is Anna Maria von Posch, née Eulenschenk, the wife of the doctor and faith healer Franz Anton Mesmer (1734–1815), who also lived in the castle at the time.

The castle was severely damaged by bombs in the last phase of the Second World War. The castle was repaired in a makeshift manner and used as a home for working-class families until it was purchased by the town of Schwechat on April 28, 1967. After the purchase, the listed building on the approximately 6,500 m² site was renovated for 8 million schillings (around 2 million euros in 2011 purchasing power) by 1972 and again completely renovated by the town of Schwechat in 2001. rothmuehle.at
