Falkenauel is a small hamlet on the river Irsen.
The place belongs politically to the municipality Daleiden, Eifelkreis Bitburg-Prüm, Rhineland-Palatinate.
The Irsen forms here the Gemarkungsgrenze to the district Karlshausen.
The mill, which is located on the left bank of the river is therefore not to Daleiden, but to Karlshausen.
In this respect, the name "Karlshausener Mühle" hits the mark.
Prior to the territorial reform, however, the Irsen was not only the boundaries of boundaries, but also the border between the former districts of Bitburg and Prüm.
In Falkenauel is also the language border between the "Islek" and the "Gutland variant" of the Moselle-Franconian language.
