Upper Sava Valley
Discover this treasure!

Bordered to the north by the Karawanks, to the south by the Julian Alps. Jesenice to the east, and the watershed of the Sava and Žilja rivers to the west. Summers are cool, winters cold. Extensive coniferous and larch forests, mountain pines above the tree line. Game includes chamois, roe deer, and hares, and mountain birds include black grouse and birds of prey.

The Upper Sava Valley (Zgornjesavska dolina, also Dolina or Gornjesavska dolina), one of the most beautiful Alpine valleys, lies in the extreme northwest of Slovenia, close to the border triangle with Austria and Italy.
