    Ladenburg Water Tower (1903) 🚴‍♂️

    The Ladenburg Water Tower was built in 1903. This 48-meter-high landmark is now one of the region's most impressive industrial monuments. It stands on the edge of the historic town center and, at the same time, on the edge of the Carl Benz Park with the famous inventor's residence. The Neckar River flows within unobstructed view, whose element, water, was also the original element of the tower. It's a shame that the tower can't be climbed. The view, alternating between the old town and the river landscape, would certainly have been exceptionally attractive.
    The city of Ladenburg installed a modern public water supply in 1903. From January to June, the company J. Grosselfinger & Cie. from Offenburg/Mannheim constructed the suction line, 9,000 meters of main line, 100 hydrants, and 400 house connections. The 48-meter-high water tower was built by the South German Construction Company for Firing Systems and Chimney Construction from Mannheim. The F.A. Neumann company from Eschweiler supplied the tower's iron reservoir. Heinrich Lanz Mannheim provided a stationary 16-hp steam locomotive, and Bopp & Reuther Mannheim supplied the pumps. The 250-cbm water supply was divided into a 60-cbm fire supply and a 190-cbm consumption supply. The facility was decommissioned in 1991 when the Lobdengau Water Supply Association's waterworks went into operation. 🚴‍♂️
