One of the few preserved freight lanes from bygone times. He once connected Lüneburg with Ratzeburg, from where it went on the waterway on the Wakenitz on to Lübeck and from there across the Baltic Sea. Here it was necessary to overcome the deeply cut Hellbach valley. Shortly afterwards, the Wasserkrüger Weg branches off to Mölln, while the Boizenburg freight route, without touching any other villages, runs to the crossroads to Fredeburg.
