    The parish church of St. Dionysius is an impressive baroque building that was built between 1706 and 1710. It stands on a rocky outcrop in the north of the old town above the Sulmtal and is one of the city's landmarks, along with the Teutonic Order Castle. The church's tower was built in 1757 under the architect Franz Häffele.

    During the Second World War, the church was completely destroyed by a bomb attack on March 1, 1945 and rebuilt from 1946 to 1949.
