The Waldkapelle stands on the outskirts of Kaisersesch on the spot where in former times a Roman Limes watchtower stood.
This watchtower has been reconstructed on the Heideberg and can be committed at any time. You have a nice view of Kaisersesch from the top.
The Waldkapelle is the tail end of the historical circular walk Kaisersesch.
She is the Holy Mother of God, dedicated to Mary.

The forest chapel, first mentioned in a document in 1754, but already in the 12th century.
Built in the 19th century, it stands on the foundations of a Roman watchtower. It is a pilgrimage chapel dedicated to the Sorrowful Mother of God - "Maria ad Silvam" - which was visited by the surrounding villages during the prayer week.
The spring, which rises in the area of the chapel, is said to have a healing effect on eye diseases.
According to legend, the chapel was built by a knight von der Leyen because of the miraculous rescue on the crusade and is located 1000 steps away from the parish church. As long as the way from the judgment place to Mount Calvary was for our Lord. The Kaisersesch volunteer fire brigade has been taking care of the chapel for years and cares for and cherishes this historical gem.
