The city park, named "Hachede Park" after the town where Geesthacht was founded, is located between Bergedorfer Straße and the market square.

It represents an important "stepping stone in the city's green axis concept"
as well as a tranquil haven in the city center.

The park, with its paths, benches, and beautiful pond, invites you to linger.

These include the so-called "blue gates." They symbolically mark a historic route: the connection from the Elbe River to the city. Anyone coming from the Elbe through the Kirchenstieg (church steps) and passing through the ornate gates will see Winkelstraße and thus the extension of the city center.

During excavation work for the redesign of the park in 1988, workers uncovered the lower part of a fountain from the former rectory of St. Salvatoris Church.
