The 44km long Celtic cycle path begins in Themar and ends in Römhild. The route on the Thuringian side is 31.5km. The Celtic cycle path leads past several excavation sites in the Vorderrhön.
The town of Themar with its well-preserved city wall and 7 towers is the starting point of the cycle tour. From here you cycle to the Veßra monastery with the Henneberg Museum, where you connect to the Werra Valley cycle path. Then you continue towards Römhild. Opposite the largest archaeological monument in Thuringia, the Keltenopidum on the Steinsburg, is Europe's first Celtic museum, the Steinsburg Museum. It was opened on September 15, 1929. We are shown excavation finds from southern Thuringia.
