Although not Rožnik Hill's highest point – that accolade belongs to Šiška Hill, at 1,407 feet (429 m) – Cankar's Peak is the most popular objective. It's adorned by the beautiful Cerkev Marijinega obiskanja (the Church of Virgin Mary’s Visitation), with its Neoclassical facade and stirring views of Ljubljana.

Cankar's Peak is named after Ivan Cankar, Slovenia's greatest writer, who lived here between 1910 and 1917. Today, his former residence is Gostilna Rožnik, which serves lovely food.
