Historically, Nordstrand has a turbulent past. The peninsula was originally an island that was divided by several severe storm surges in the 17th century. The current connection to the mainland was created by the construction of a dam in the 1930s, which turned Nordstrand into a peninsula.

In addition to nature, Nordstrand also has a lot to offer culturally. The small St. Vincent Church from the 13th century is one of the oldest buildings in the region and worth a visit.
