If you're looking for a charming and historic place to visit in Scotland, you might want to check out St Cyrus Parish Church at St Cyrus, a village in the far south of Aberdeenshire. The church dates from 1787 but was heavily remodelled around 1870, adding a spire that makes it a conspicuous landmark for mariners. The church is situated on an eminence 250 feet above the level of the sea, offering a splendid view of the coast and the St Cyrus National Nature Reserve, which is home to over 300 plant species and 70 bird species. The church also has a rich history, as it replaced the medieval parish church of Ecclesgreig, which stood on the shore until 1632 and is now used as a burial vault for the Porteous family. You can still see the ruins of the old church and the manse, which dates from the early 18th century.
