With its 50 meter wide main and inland waterway opening, which is closed by a segment gate, as well as its five side openings, the hydraulic barrage has the ability to block the Ems within 30 minutes. for understandable reasons, the opening only takes 15 minutes longer.
The interesting building can be viewed from both sides of the Ems. The visit on the tour along the Ems is definitely worth the little detour.
