The birthplace of J. Pilsudskis is the Zalav manor, just 50 km from Vilnius, near the road to Švenčionis. The mansion is no longer there, but in its place there is a large oak tree, surrounded by a fence painted in the colors of the Polish flag, on which ribbons of the same colors flutter.

in 2005 The Union of Poles in Lithuania erected a black marble memorial stone to J. Pilsudski with the words carved in Lithuanian and Polish: "This oak symbolizing eternity, where the first marshal of Reborn Poland, Juzef Pilsudski, was born in 1937. October 10 planted by the President of the Republic of Poland Ignacy Moscicki and Mrs. Aleksandra Pilsudska". Everything else is engraved on the monument only in Polish: about J. Pilsudski's merits for Poland and the fact that the place where the marshal was born is taken care of by the Polish Union of Lithuania.
