Casa Forte Tarambel The structure was built near a crossroads frequented in 1198 by the nobles of Chésallet who sold it in the following century to the bishop-count together with all their possessions; he then enfeoffed the land to the Moni (or Mogny) of Épinel, faithful to the prelate of Aosta.
According to one hypothesis, in 1291 Teobaldo de Casaleto sold it together with other goods to the bishop Nicola Bersatori.
The history of the Tarambel stronghold is closely intertwined with that of the local community: the village of Tarambel arose near the stronghold, probably consisting of two distinct settlements (Mogni and Croix)[, which became the administrative center of Épinel, so as to have the right to elect their own representatives among those of the community of Cogne. The village was abandoned during the 16th century, probably due to excessive drought in the area, and the inhabitants thus moved to the village of Épinel, making it grow.[
