High above the Main valley, at the foothills of the Spessart: The Triefenstein Abbey was founded at the beginning of the 12th century and was an Augustinian monastery for more than 700 years. Of course, the widely visible Classicist monastery church dates only from the end of the 18th century. With the secularization in 1803 the monastery complex became the property of the princely house Löwenstein-Wertheim-Freudenberg. A varied use followed, until 1986, the Protestant Christian Brotherhood acquired the monastery and restored. Today, the monastery serves as the spiritual center of the Brotherhood and a place of silence and prayer. Visits are not open.

Very imposing monastery complex, the real size of which can only be guessed from the outside. The buildings are gradually being renovated by the Christ-bearers. A special highlight is the monastery church, whose ceiling pictures are reminiscent of the Tiepolo pictures in the Würzburg residence. Anyone who has the chance to visit should definitely take advantage of it.
