    Welplagebach:
    The Welplagebach rises as Reinkebach south of the Gütersloh district of Friedrichsdorf and flows in a westerly direction. The Reinkebach initially crosses rural meadows and, after a flow of around three kilometers, is dammed northwest of Avenwedde-Mitte to form the Reinkebach rain retention basin, also known locally as “Avenwedder Lake”.

    In the further course, the body of water largely forms the northern border of the Gütersloh settlement center and in this area is called Snake Bach. Northwest of Gütersloh, the Hühnerbach passes the site of the Princess Royal Barracks used by the British Army.

    After the right-hand tributary of an unnamed 3.5 km long stream that flows from the Oester farming community, the body of water changes its name again and is henceforth referred to as Welplagebach. Shortly before this tributary, the stream crossed the border with the town of Harsewinkel and then turns northwest towards the Marienfeld district.

    South of Marienfeld, the valley ditch flows into the Welplagebach on the right; a canal-like flood, built, among other things, for flood protection, which runs as the main branch of the “old” Lutter, which runs further north.
