    The Kammerersmühle in Wiesentstrasse is not only an eye-catcher because of its pretty half-timbered structure. The building, built in 1698, has sunk on one side towards the Wiesent over the years and was therefore christened "Leaning House" by the Forchheimers. In 1910, the mill was taken out of service and now houses a restaurant where visitors can enjoy the stylish rooms.

            It was 1697 when the industrious miller Martin Burkhart decided to build a new mill as a workhouse and home.
            As good as Martin Burkhart's planning was, an error crept into the design of the foundation, causing the beautiful building to sink towards the Wiesent River during construction.
            This initial error makes the gabled-roof house one of the most famous half-timbered houses in Forchheim today.

            For many years, the mill transformed grain into flour, bringing joy not only to the Burkhart miller family. After several changes of ownership, it was acquired by the family of Heinrich Kammerer, after whom the mill is still named today.

            The Kammerer Mill was in active operation until 1910 and was merged with the Puffmühle opposite shortly before its closure.

            Having survived the eventful and war-torn years of the 20th century, since the early 1980s, thirsty visitors have been able to enjoy the unique ambiance of the former mill with a good glass of wine.
