The Catholic Church of St. Elisabeth is the southernmost church in the Salzland pastoral region of the Magdeburg diocese. Since Alsleben became Protestant in 1547 during the Reformation, there have been hardly any Catholics living here. It was only in the course of the 19th century that followers of this Christian denomination settled here again as a result of industrialization. From 1858 onwards there have been occasional Catholic services in Alsleben. On June 21, 1861, the Alsleben parish was founded and the parish was given a missionary pastor. In 1874/75, St. Elisabeth's Church was built in the neo-Gothic style. Instead of a tower, a rectory and schoolhouse have been built at right angles to the nave as a missionary house. In 2010, the parishes of the previously existing parish association merged to form the current parish of St. Michael Aschersleben.
