    What is a dry pool!
    Top gas cleaning: Top gas is a by-product of the blast furnace process. At the "Ofengicht", the gas is discharged via large pipelines at a temperature of 180 °C and a calorific value of 900 WE. This gas must be cleaned before it can be used again. This is done in several stages. The coarse dust is separated directly behind the blast furnace in mechanical devices, the so-called dust bag and the whirler systems, and discharged with special conveyor devices, the dust screws. The fine cleaning of the gas takes place in electric filter systems, the so-called EGR - electric top gas cleaning. The gas is passed over high containers and sprayed with water in a countercurrent, which “washes out” the dust. The remaining fine dust is electrically "charged" in the downstream electrostatic precipitator. It then accumulates on so-called precipitation plates. Special beating devices clean the plates. The dust separated in the plant was thickened in "drying tanks" and then disposed of in a special landfill.
