In the past, there was the Olchowiecki Bridge located just above the San River from the current position of the bridge. At the end of February 1934, the floe on the San damaged part of a wooden bridge on the Sanok-Olchowce route, making communication impossible.
After the outbreak of World War II in 1939, during the September campaign, the bridge was blown up by the retreating Polish troops, and then in the same month a makeshift bridge was built on its right (from Sanok), on which - according to the residents' reports - Germany on both sides and the Soviets paid courtesy visits.
