    To ensure the long-term preservation of the pond landscape, the VNP Foundation signed a cooperation agreement with the owner last year. In the future, the VNP will be responsible for maintaining the ponds. Thanks to funding from the Bingo Environmental Foundation and the Harburg district, the dams in the pond system, known as the "monks," were replaced. The work proved to be very complex, as some dams were no longer stable and water was still being channeled through them in wooden pipes. Not only were the monks replaced, but new pipes were also laid and some dam sections were rebuilt. Nevertheless, the ponds were redammed in time for the moor frog and the agile frog, which spawn in these waters. Further maintenance measures are planned.
