                The construction of the Hennedamm in its current form was completed in 1955. The design and dimensions of the dam crest have not changed significantly since then. Although the Hennesee and therefore the dam are primarily a technical structure, the lake has always served as a popular local recreation and leisure destination. He should continue to carry out this task in the future and be guided by today's demands for modern leisure activities. With events such as the HenneSeefest, the ITH Hennesee Triathlon and the HenneOpenAir held in 2015 as part of the HenneErleben event, it is clear that the lake is particularly popular as a backdrop for a variety of events.
                The redesigned and widened dam top now presents itself as a free area that offers enough space for events as well as for tourists and visitors. In the middle of the dam crest, the usable area was increased from 6 to over 10 meters. The ability to experience the dam from the top of the dam was clearly highlighted, among other things, by the open design of the lake-side railing. As a distinctive design feature, fish motifs can be found both on the asphalt surface and in the shape of the hedge elements. Benches are integrated into the loosely spaced hedges as seating, offering a sheltered place to linger and allowing an unobstructed view of the lake. Light steles emphasize the course of the dam crest and, in addition to enhancing the design, provide the necessary lighting.
                For visitors with a head for heights, the viewing platform in the middle of the dam crest offers a special experience. As a striking landmark, the construction protrudes 7.50 meters above the top of the dam on the land side and enables a spectacular view towards Meschede city center. At the top of the staircase to heaven, the viewing platform is also highlighted by handrail lighting and is, in the truest sense of the word, another highlight on Henne Boulevard.
