      Church of St. George & James, St. Mary's Chapel
      The former church of the Benedictine monastery, consecrated in 1042, was the parish church for the Catholics in the rural area within the walls of the Protestant city until 1803. After the city fire of 1631, it was rebuilt as a three-aisled hall church. The interior was magnificently decorated in the Rococo style in the 18th century. From the choir area you can reach the St. Mary's Chapel, which was long reserved for the monks only.
      Worth seeing: The ceiling fresco in the central nave shows the founding of the monastery under the protection of St. Benedict. The St. Mary's Chapel contains remnants of the monks' former choir stalls. After secularization, the Counts of Quadt-Wykradt used the chapel as a burial place.
