The Wendelinskapelle in Birgsau is picturesquely located at the foot of the mountains. The first mentions of it as a small field chapel date back to 1680. The current building was built in 1846-48. The altar was added in 1938: the blue of Mary's cloak in the altar painting is based on the stemless gentian native to the Alps.
