According to legend, around the year 1340, Till Eulenspiegel pulled off a coup in Nuremberg's Holy Spirit Hospital.

Nuremberg's hospital was full of sick people. The director calculated how much he could save if the miracle doctor healed everyone. When he was alone with the sick people, he said: "Whoever is the sickest of all must sacrifice themselves for the others. I will make a powder from them that I will give to the others to help them recover. The sickest is the one who leaves this room last." The sick people then took their crutches and walking aids and ran out of the room. Even those who hadn't left their beds for years suddenly seemed to be in perfect health.
The director was delighted and gave Till Eulenspiegel the 200 thalers. He left town immediately. It was better that way, because three days later the hospital was fuller than ever before.
