      An exciting place. The neighbors told us the story about the ruins when we visited
      In 1945, a Soviet unexploded shell penetrated the church roof. In 1952 the nave became a ruin after a tree broke. After renovation work, the tower and apse received new roofing after 2010, and the walls of the nave were also secured.[1]

      The church is now property of the municipality. However, services are still occasionally held in a room within the nave that was built there in the early 1960s. Altthymen belongs to the Evangelical Lutheran parish of Fürstenberg/Havel, which is part of the Lutheran parish of Mecklenburg because of its historical affiliation with Strelitz. Therefore the place does not belong to any church district in Brandenburg

            The church was built in 1872 in the neo-Byzantine style according to plans by Schinkel's student Friedrich Wilhelm Buttel.
            The choir apse, which is semicircular on the inside, is divided into five parts on the outside.
            There is a clockwork with a three-sided dial in the tower. The larger of two bells was delivered in 1943.
            The altar was richly decorated and the six windows had colorful leaded glazing. An organ was installed in 1912.
            In the last days of the war in 1945, an unexploded shell hit the church roof, services were held until 1952, later a tree fell on the roof and the ship became a ruin. In 1960, a church service room was built in the tower vestibule, where services also take place regularly.
