      The history of the place
      1340 Billmuthausen is mentioned for the first time as Billmuthehusen. The village was a manor, in 1840 there were 14 houses in Billmuthausen, a cutting and grinding mill and a church, around 1850 the village had 68 inhabitants. Billmuthausen belonged to the Saxon Amt Heldburg.

      In 1965 the authorities ordered the village church to be demolished, in 1977 they had the mill demolished and announced the complete evacuation of the village. The border installations were built right through the village. In 1978 the last family was deported and the village was razed to the ground. The evacuation of the cemetery was planned, but was not carried out.
