The Rendsburger loop is a circular loop connected to the Rendsburger Hochbrücke on the Neumünster–Flensburg railway line in Schleswig-Holstein. A good three-quarters of the loop is designed as a railway embankment, while the last section before the high bridge was built as a steel viaduct. The viaducts of the terminal loop are under monument protection.

Trains coming from the south to Rendsburg first make a 360° turn on the Rendsburger loop before they reach Rendsburger station after passing under the high bridge. Conversely, after leaving Rendsburg, the 4.5 km long return trip leads to the viaduct to cross the Kiel Canal. This section has a height difference of 42 meters.

The first historic crossing of the Kiel Canal, a swing bridge, had to be replaced by 1913 due to its widening. A high bridge with a clearance height of 50 meters was to be built in its place. This corresponded to the specifications for bridges over the Kiel Canal. At the same time, the existing station should continue to be used. However, the station was too close to the canal to be able to connect it directly to the rail connection at the specified height for the viaduct. Therefore, a railway embankment was built in the form of a loop at the northern end of the bridge in 1911-1913.
