From Cerem the path leads over carpets of flowers in the direction of the first border triangle. On the way you can enjoy forest fruits, admire the flora and enjoy the view of Mount Kolata (2,534 m). When you reach the edge of the deep river gorge and follow the mountain trail through a coniferous forest, you notice how much the relief changes between the western and eastern Alps. The slopes are dotted with alpine pastures where you can meet the shepherds over coffee and raki. In the glacial valley of Doberdol (1,750 m) the animals roam freely on the pastures and time seems frozen. The locals still live in harmony with nature as mankind did many years ago. This archaic place helps set the inner compass and ground the soul. In the simple shepherd's huts, you do without comfort for one night and receive hospitality in return. The family will prepare your meals and you will learn more about the seasonal way of life of the shepherds around the campfire.
