The Balkenstein can be reached from the parking lot at the Egloffstein outdoor pool, past the Kneipp facility in the direction of Mostviel and then following the "Kulutrweg 2" marker to the right through a wonderful mixed forest with rare yew trees. Alternatively, you can already climb up on Badstrasse to the right in the direction of the Pfarrwald (marking "Gelbkreis") and then walk north in the forest until you come to the junction of "Kulturweg 2" and then follow it to the top right. For the way back, we recommend the route over the Pfarrfelsen and the Dr.-Neumeyer-Höhe (marked with "yellow circle"). The entire lap takes around 1.5 hours at a leisurely pace.
