The Ölbach flows into the Kemnader See, in its estuary area there are several bodies of water of different sizes, which are referred to as Ölbachteiche. Due to its smaller size, the Ölbachteich directly in front of the estuary is usually warmer all year round than the large adjoining Ruhr reservoir.
