The Bautzen District Court, along with the external chambers of the Görlitz Regional Court (the former Bautzen Regional Court), the Bautzen Labor Court, and the Bautzen branch of the Görlitz Public Prosecutor's Office, is housed in the Palace of Justice at Lessingstraße 7, 02625 Bautzen.

The building complex was constructed from 1902 to 1906 according to plans by Baumann, government architect Kempe, Baumann, and building authority architect Grosselt, and occupied on September 6, 1906. The main facades are structured by side projections, and the building is designed in the late Gothic style with echoes of Art Nouveau. The associated court prison, with its entrance on Weigangstraße, served as a Soviet remand prison from 1945 to 1949 and as the Bautzen Special Detention Center of the Ministry for State Security from 1956 to 1989.

The courthouse was built between 1902 and 1906 as the seat of the Bautzen Regional and District Courts and the Public Prosecutor's Office. After 1945, the building was initially used entirely by Russian occupation forces, and it wasn't until 1949 that a wing was cleared for the Regional and District Courts. In 1952, the police also moved into the building. After the withdrawal of the Russian facilities, the Ministry for State Security moved into this wing in 1954. After 1989, the police initially used the entire building; today, it houses the Regional and District Courts, the police, and the Public Prosecutor's Office.
