    Boats pass under the 13-meter-long bridge, which is a listed building, when leaving Lake Plauer and heading for the Elde. With a lifting height of up to 1.86 m, it is the highest lifting bridge in Mecklenburg. The clearance height depends on the water level.

      The lift bridge was built in 1916 to replace a wooden drawbridge. In 1945, the bridge was saved from being blown up.[1]

Until this renovation, the lock keeper, who operates the lock at the "Hühnerleiter" a few hundred meters downstream on the Elde, had to ride his bike to the bridge in order to control the bridge directly from the wooden house.
