Bremmer Way of the Cross to the mountain chapel

The Way of the Cross in Bremm, an approximately 1.5 km long footpath uphill towards Beuren, was built around 1856 according to oral tradition.
    First renovation was in 1912.
The mountain chapel is said to have been built in 1802. In 1983, stations 1 - 4 fell victim to land consolidation. The first section (old path) in which the stations were located was filled up for vineyards.
Starting at the Kandelbach, a new path was chosen that leads to the old Way of the Cross and where the 4 stations were rebuilt.
When the stations and the chapel needed repairs, a support association was founded in 1997. Toni Ostermann became chairman and managing directors Edmund Schmitz and Gerhard Bergmann. Many volunteers gave their vows. The Way of the Cross project was started in 1997 and ended in 1998. First the chapel was renovated (September 1997). It got a completely new roof with slate covering from Martin Ostermann and Hermann Bergweiler.
The retaining wall (dry wall) of the chapel was renewed and a wooden railing was attached.
The stations were repaired, new grouted and the picture boards were given a new coat of paint. Hermann Bergweiler made a roofing made of copper sheet.
Today's Pieta in the chapel was purchased in 1998 because the old one was stolen.
The old front door was also stolen after the renovation in 2000. The current one is a new production by Christof Berg. A lot of donations, grants and hard-working hands were needed to keep the Bremmer Kreuzweg for posterity for many years to come. After the renovation, the Way of the Cross is in the hands of Gisela and Edmund Schmitz
