The Ricovero Casera Caal shelter is located on the southern slopes of Mount Banera. It is well-equipped and features a stove, tables, and a mezzanine. It opened in the summer of 2009 and can be reached via CAI trail no. 733, a 1.5-hour walk from the hamlet of Uccea in the municipality of Resia, or from Malga Coot (CAI trail no. 741-733), a two-hour walk.

Alternatively, a longer but more scenic route can be reached by following the ridge of Mount Kila from Sella Carnizza towards Nische (CAI trail no. 731-733).

It is a convenient base for excursions to Mount Guarda, the Kila ridge, the Uccea Valley, and the town.

- Water: Non-potable, but available depending on seasonal weather conditions
- Kitchen: Wood-burning stove
- Firewood: Available but use sparingly. Saws and axes are available for anyone wishing to contribute to the supply.

Shelters are a valuable asset to our area, providing hikers with a convenient base for trekking. When using them, it's important not to leave any traces of your presence, so we recommend:

- Do not leave food easily accessible to mice and other animals;
- Clean common areas;
- Take all waste down to the valley.

This facility is always open and unmanaged. Maintenance is handled by the Park Authority with the essential contribution of local volunteers and all users!
