        Federbach
        The Federbach is a 27 km long tributary of the Rhine between Rastatt and Karlsruhe.
        The river rises in Malsch. Its two tributaries are the Tannelgraben and the Walpertsbach, both of which have their source southeast of Malsch in the northern Black Forest. In Waldprechtsweiher and Malsch they unite to form the village stream. At the intersection of the L607, the Beethovenstraße, with the L608, the Adlerstraße, the stream divides into the Lindenhardter Wegbach, which runs in a northerly direction and flows into the Malscher Landgraben, and into the Federbach. Unusually, the river first runs in a south-westerly direction to Rastatt and thus follows the course of the Kinzig-Murg channel.
        Northeast of Rastatt, the course of the river turns north. At Kastenwörth it splits into Alter Federbach and Neuer Federbach, which reunite at the Rheinhafen Dampfkraftwerk. Then it crosses under the Rhine port in a culvert. It then flows through the Knielinger See, which it leaves again at the Willichgraben, and flows into the Alb near Knielingen.
        The Regional Council of Karlsruhe is planning to build a separating dam at the current confluence with Knielinger See in order to avoid the discharge of nutrients, so that the Federbach no longer flows through the lake, but directly into the Alb parallel to the lake.
