The order for the construction of a house on this site was given in 1525 by Adriaan van Bueren, official, dijkgraaf and Richter van de Neder-Betuwe. This building was probably not completed and the materials were used for defense works of the city of Tiel on behalf of Karel van Gelre. It is possible that the building was designed as a two-aisled from the start. The roof construction of the older of the two naves was built around 1542, the second nave was built against the first and completed around 1550.
From 1550 onwards, the building was continued in phases by successive officials from Tiel and the Neder-Betuwe. At the end of the 16th century, the building was expanded twice. The kitchen dates from the 17th century. The landscape garden was designed around 1850 by Jan David Zocher. Here you will find a tea house and a neoclassical coach house/orange.
