Iqrit was a Christian Palestinian village who’s inhabitants were pushed out in the war of 1948 by the Israeli Army. They were not allowed to come back although there still exists a Supreme Court decision, that they are allowed to come back and rebuild their village. As the inhabitants gathered on Christmas Eve in the 1960s, the Army bombed the village and destroyed it. Only the church remained. Today people of the 1., 2., and 3. Generation come here to celebrate feasts, like weddings, masses and also funerals.
