Kellinghusen Park is one of the smaller parks in Hamburg.

This is because this park was not originally intended as a facility, but rather as a garden. The owner at the time was none other than the former mayor of Hamburg, Heinrich Kellinghusen (* April 16, 1796 in Hamburg; † April 20, 1879).

Due to its "size", long walks are not possible there, but it is certainly sufficient for short walks around the pond populated with ducks.

Short or longer rest breaks are also possible there, on quite a few park benches. There is a fenced-in children's playground on the park grounds, which is ideal for small and large children.

The small farmers' kate, which was built in the 1930s, fits perfectly into the harmonious ensemble. In addition, it is now surrounded by a small farm garden. The BUND Hamburg uses it as the “House of BUNDten Natur” and there it teaches children and young people about environmental protection in a playful way.

Once you have discovered it, you will definitely want to come back again and again,
To Kellinghusens Park in Eppendorf, which is somewhat inconspicuously hidden behind residential buildings. When you enter the quiet grounds, you are immediately impressed by the old, tall trees with dawn redwoods, pines, plane trees and sycamore maples. A pond with a small jetty completes this idyllic picture.

The park belongs to the former country estate of Dr. Heinrich Kellinghusen, who worked as a lawyer and first mayor in Hamburg in the
        19th century.
In 1819 he settled in Hamburg as a lawyer and was elected mayor one year after the Great Hamburg Fire of 1842.
From 1861 until his death in 1879 he was president of the Hamburg Higher Regional Court. In 1841 he had purchased a plot of land measuring around 40,000 square metres in what was then still rural Eppendorf, on which he later had the architect Franz Gustav Joachim Forsmann build a summer house.

In 1901 the city of Hamburg combined several park plots, including Kellinghusens, in order to have them partially built on. A peripheral development with apartment buildings for middle-class needs was created. They still stand today for high-quality housing from the 1920s and represent new building in a typical Hamburg style using brick. The designs were by the Hamburg architects Gebrüder Gerson and R. Friedmann. Part of the former gardens, in the centre of the new peripheral development, was to be preserved as a green space for the public. With the sale of the house plots, Hamburg was able to finance today's Kellinghusens Park in 1929 and have it redesigned by Otto Linne.

A small farmhouse, which was added in the 1930s, fits perfectly into the harmonious ensemble. In addition, it is now surrounded by a small farm garden. BUND Hamburg uses it as a "House of BUND Nature" and uses it to teach children and young people about environmental protection in a playful way.
The park is an important garden monument.
