Streversdorp Castle is located in the Montzen district of the municipality of Plombières (Dt. Bleiberg) in the province of Liège in the triangle between Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands, about twelve kilometers west of Aachen. The complex has been a listed building since November 12, 1954.
Popularly the castle is also called Burg Graaf (French Château de Graaf). The reason for this was the appointment of its most famous owner, Baron Caspar Anton von der Heyden called Belderbusch, as Imperial Count in 1782. The Prime Minister of the Electorate of Cologne became coadjutor due to his services in the election of Maximilian Franz of Austria in 1780 by the Cologne Cathedral Chapter rewarded with the dignity of imperial count.
The name of the castle comes from the first known owner Goswin (van) de Treversdorp at the beginning of the 14th century. Together with his sister Elise - married to André van den Hove - he sold the castle to Kerstiaen van den Knavel from Aachen, owner since 1350. The castle was then sold to Reinhard von Wilde from Aachen, who remained the owner until 1380 . Around 1400 the property changed to Jacques Gabot, who married the daughter Marie von Wilde. His daughter brought the castle as a dowry to the marriage with Gerard van Macrelaer.
In 1475 it was owned by Jean van den Horrick, and through his daughter Anne - married to Hans von der Heyden - the property came to the von der Heyden family called Belderbusch in 1530. The castle remained in the possession of this family for two and a half centuries. It was passed on to the son Wilhelm von der Heyden called Belderbusch, who passed the property on to his son Hans in 1609 with his wife Marguerite d’Iven. Because of his early death, the castle went to his brother Hans von der Heyden, married to Isabelle de Frongteau de Housse.
In 1810 the Streversdorp domain changed to Arnold-Antoine (de) Thiriart. His son Florent M.A. J. de Thirart bequeathed the property to his nephew Baron Amedé de la Roussliere-Clouard. His heir Gaston de la Rousseliere Clouard sold the plant in 1908 to Charles Jeanne Dothée.
In 1986 the property changed to the current owners' association.
