September 4th, 2021 - In 1897/98 Arthur Krupp had the theater built for the 50th anniversary of the reign of Emperor Franz Josef I. In 1899 it was opened in the presence of the Emperor. For the construction, the factory owner chose the two respected architects of the historicizing Ringstrasse style, Hermann Helmer and Ferdinand Fellner.

The building of the theater lives from the spirit of the Viennese ring road renaissance. Due to the multifaceted structure, the elaborately staggered gables of the main front, the articulated oriels and the colorfulness of the frescoes (a complete renewal of the frescoes was not carried out during the restoration) everything heavy and bulky is taken away from the building.

Entering the auditorium of the theatre, one feels transported to a rococo castle theater that radiates carefree joie de vivre.
